IHR-Advisors believe in a robust, analytical approach in defending the rights of individuals, whatever the allegation, wherever the jurisdiction, and whatever their means<\/h4>\n

We won International Pro Bono Barristers of the Year in 2021. We are intimately familiar with international courts and tribunals in the Hague, the United Nations, European Court of Human Rights and elsewhere.\u00a0 We provide legal advice and representation in all matters of international law and human rights.<\/p>\n

We have seen an enormous\u00a0increase in the last few years\u00a0in the number of individuals who have been subject to some of the worst international criminal law and human rights violations, stranded without any real representation or assistance.\u00a0We\u00a0know\u00a0that from time to time individuals,\u00a0some of whom have found themselves\u00a0in the most dire of circumstances, won\u2019t have easy access to lawyers.<\/p>\n

We recognise that it\u00a0is\u00a0essential that we are able to commit the time and energy to helping people, whatever their\u00a0means. IHR-Advisors endeavour\u00a0to\u00a0provide as much help as we can to pro bono clients who may be struggling to progress their case.<\/p>\n

Case Study<\/h4>\n

Ryan Cornelius is a British national who has been arbitrarily detained in prison in Dubai since 2008. Ryan has been the victim of the most egregious human rights breaches imaginable and will almost certainly die in prison unless we can help secure his release. We have been working closely with his family and have asked the UN and the UK and US governments for assistance in his campaign for justice.<\/p>\n

In particular, we made submissions to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention which subsequently found that the UAE government had \u201cfailed to establish a legal basis for the arrest and detention of Mr. Cornelius and that his detention is arbitrary<\/em>\u201d. Further, IHR-Advisors appealed to the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office to impose Magnitsky Sanctions on those responsible for Ryan\u2019s mistreatment. The application was supported by a cross-party group of Peers and MPs, and activist, Bill Browder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
