En junio de 2023, un grupo de parlamentarios celebr\u00f3 una sesi\u00f3n de recogida de pruebas en el Parlamento brit\u00e1nico para escuchar a supervivientes de torturas y detenciones en los EAU, familiares de empresarios actualmente detenidos all\u00ed y expertos en la regi\u00f3n, con el fin de evaluar el coste real de hacer negocios en los EAU. <\/p>\n

Hoy, IHR Advisors lanza un Informe preparado por el panel de parlamentarios, Baroness Helena Kennedy of the Shaws, KC, the Rt Hon Sir Robert Buckland KC MP and the Rt Hon Alistair Carmichael MP with legal counsel from international human rights barristers, Rhys Davies<\/a> de Temple Garden Chambers y Ben Keith<\/a> de 5 St Andrew's Hill, as\u00ed como Olivia Chessell, asistente jur\u00eddica del Grupo de Investigaci\u00f3n, que destac\u00f3 el \"Coste real de hacer negocios en los EAU\". <\/p>\n

El Informe fue elaborado por el grupo de expertos que se reuni\u00f3 a ra\u00edz del planteamiento de familiares de personas que han sido detenidas ilegalmente en Dubai y se reuni\u00f3 en una sesi\u00f3n de recogida de pruebas en junio de 2023 para examinar los riesgos que corren los empresarios que hacen negocios en los EAU y considerar si sus derechos humanos b\u00e1sicos est\u00e1n o no adecuadamente protegidos.<\/p>\n

El grupo de expertos ha llevado a cabo un minucioso proceso de recopilaci\u00f3n de pruebas que ha incluido: presentaciones de organizaciones de derechos humanos, pruebas periciales de fuentes empresariales y acad\u00e9micas, testimonios orales y escritos de las v\u00edctimas y sus familiares, un an\u00e1lisis de fuentes jur\u00eddicas, informes de prensa y material de dominio p\u00fablico sobre los derechos de los empresarios brit\u00e1nicos, y de los empresarios en general, en los EAU. Se envi\u00f3 una invitaci\u00f3n al Gobierno de los EAU para que respondiera, pero no se recibi\u00f3 respuesta alguna.<\/p>\n

El Informe examina las deficiencias del sistema de justicia penal en los EAU, con especial atenci\u00f3n al trato dispensado a los empresarios, centr\u00e1ndose principalmente en los nacionales del Reino Unido, pero considerando tambi\u00e9n a otras personas.<\/p>\n
