Cristian González Ruiz is a lawyer specialising in international criminal law, public international law, and human rights. Formerly at the International Criminal Court, Cristian was involved in the defence of individuals in cases relating to war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Central African Republic.
In his national practice, Cristian advocated as a leading associate in corporate criminal law at a top-tier criminal law firm, in cases involving, among others, alleged embezzlement of USD 8 billion in an oil and gas project and the alleged commission of crimes against humanity in Colombia. His pro bono work earned him the Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award in 2021, one of the youngest recipients.
Cristian is frequently consulted by Hispanoamerican media, including El Espectador and El Tiempo, on criminal and international law matters, and has lectured on these topics at universities in Argentina, Colombia, and Spain.
Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and a recipient of Colombia’s Ecopetrol and Colfuturo scholarships, Cristian delivers legal solutions from The Hague, Netherlands.
