Ben Keith represents the Government of India in significant extradition appeal
Ben Keith, leading Alex du Sautoy of 6KBW College Hill, acted on behalf of the Government of India in the case of Bhandari v India [2025] 449 (Admin). India sought the extradition of Mr Bhandari, a consultant in the defence sector, on alleged tax evasion and money laundering charges.
The Divisional Court delivered its judgment on 28 February 2025 and quashed the order for Mr Bhandari’s extradition. The. Vice-President of the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, Lord Justice Holroyde and Mrs Justice Steyn DBE, found a significant risk of a violation of his Article 3 ECHR rights, and a real risk of a flagrant denial of his fair trial rights under Article 6 ECHR.
