The Real Cost of Doing Business in the UAE: Evidence Gathering Session
IHR-Advisors at the House of Lords on 14 June 2023 at 10am
The criminal justice system in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has come under scrutiny in recent years for its treatment of businesspeople, particularly foreigners. It is an issue that has garnered significant attention, with many individuals and organizations advocating for reform. In response to this, a parliamentary panel has been commissioned to investigate the matter and produce an independent report with proposals for reform.
The panel will be composed of British parliamentarians and will focus on the criminal justice system in the UAE, with a specific focus on the treatment of businesspeople, including UK nationals. The report will also consider other relevant cases relating to non-UK nationals. They will meet at the House of Lords on the 14th of June 2023, in order to gather evidence and produce a detailed report.
