Peers and MPs call on Foreign Secretary to take tough action as UAE banking executive denies detaining two Britons on his orders

The Telegraph reports on an application for sanctions filed with the FCDO by Rhys Davies and Ben Keith on behalf of Ryan Cornelius. The application is supported by a cross-party group of Peers and MPs, and activist Bill Browder.

A letter signed by Sir Iain Duncan Smith, Andrew Mitchell, Lord Hain of Neath, Sir Simon Hughes, Sir Peter Bottomley and Stephen Kinnock calls for Liz Truss to designate Mohammed Al Shaibani, the director of the Ruler’s Court in Dubai, for sanctions under the UK’s Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations and the Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions Regulations.
