We are pleased to announce the launch of Spanish-language versions of both the Red Notice Monitor y Asesores internacionales en derechos humanos websites. This expansion reflects our recognition of the significant legal community across the Spanish-speaking world, particularly in Latin America, and our commitment to working with clients and colleagues in these jurisdictions.
We recognise that transnational repression and the misuse of Interpol’s systems affect individuals and communities across continents, and that access to information and legal expertise should not be limited by language barriers. The Spanish language versions of our websites provide comprehensive resources on Red Notices, Interpol procedures, and the work we do, challenging politically motivated alerts and extradition requests.
This launch coincides with the welcome addition of Cristian González Ruiz to our team. Cristian is a qualified lawyer in Colombia with experience in strategic criminal litigation, specialising in white collar and international criminal litigation. He was recognised as Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2021 and holds a B.A. in Political Science with a focus on international relations, along with a J.D. in Law and an LL.M. in International Law from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia and a LL.M. in Public International Law, specialising in International Criminal Law at Leiden University. Cristian’s expertise and connections within the Latin American legal community strengthen our ability to serve clients across the region.
We have begun working with clients in Latin America and are encouraged by the response from the legal community there. The region faces particular challenges with transnational repression, including the misuse of Red Notices and Diffusions by authoritarian regimes seeking to target political opponents, journalists, and human rights defenders who have sought safety abroad.
In December this year, we will be speaking at a number of events in Buenos Aires, where we look forward to engaging with legal professionals, human rights organisations, and civil society groups working on these issues. We will provide further details about these events in due course.
The launch of our Spanish-language platforms represents an important step in our mission to provide expert legal representation and advocacy for those targeted by politically motivated Red Notices and transnational repression worldwide. We look forward to deepening our work across Latin America and building partnerships with the legal community in the region.
